A WESTERN Australian man whose disappearance has been described as “totally out of character” is now at the centre of a murder investigation – and clues to his whereabouts could be in the Northern Territory.
Lindsay Edward Judas, 57, was reported missing at the beginning of 2013 but Major Crime Squad detectives confirmed on Monday that the matter is now being treated “as a suspected homicide”.
Police are appealing for information about a white 2009 Nissan Navara with Northern Territory registration LXXXXJ and a blue coloured 1983 60 Series Land Cruiser, South Australian registration ULV449.
Police want information on a Nissan Navara ute, NT registration LXXXXJ, in relation to their investigations.
NT Police released a statement on social media which said Mr Judas “may have entered the Northern Territory”.
An NT Police spokeswoman said the statement was based on the possibility the man crossed the WA/NT border, rather than a lead.
Police investigating the suspected homicide of Lindsay Judas want information on a 1983 60 Series LandCruiser, SA registration ULV449.
Mr Judas was last seen by a work mate around 9am on Friday, February 8, 2013.
The miners’ bus driver left his workplace on Sandhill Street in Wedgefield in his white Nissan Navara, bearing Northern Territory plates, “and drove to Broome for a planned fishing trip scheduled during his R & R”, according to the Australian Federal Police’s Missing Persons Unit.
CCTV footage confirms Mr Judas’s arrival in Broome. Transactions were then made at Coles and BWS in Broome.
Mr Judas has not been seen since.
Police have renewed their appeal for information regarding Mr Judas’ disappearance, which they said was “considered totally out of character”.
Police are calling for anyone with information relating to Mr Judas or the two vehicles to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
