Unnamed found dead in Stuart Hwy truck bay, Mataranka

POLICE are investigating after a man was found dead in a truck bay beside the Stuart Hwy in Mataranka last night.
Police say the 29-year-old’s body was found opposite the Mataranka Hotel at about 6pm and Major Crash detectives and local investigators are currently on scene.
Police believe he may have been run over by a vehicle within the truck bay and are appealing for witnesses.
In particular, anyone who was parked up in the truck bay between 4pm and 6pm Thursday, or anyone who may have seen an indigenous male, wearing blue track suit pants, blue and yellow singlet with the number 35 on it and wearing a blue and black baseball cap, around the same time frame, is requested to come forward.

The road toll for 2017 now stands 31 compared to 44 at the same time last year.
