The report found abuse at all age levels from 8 to 18, though the victims older than 12 were identified as being “regularly involved in ‘selling sex’.” But “all of the respondents clearly stated that they felt that the scale of the problem affected over half of the girls in their locations,” the report said.
Similar to other U.N. missions, the scandal in Liberia seems to be the result of inadequate training, zero threat of punishment and collusion with top mission officials and NGO workers. “In all the [refugee] camps where discussion groups were conducted, the Camp Management Committee and block leaders were implicated,” the report found. What’s more, parents of the abused children typically have refrained from complaining since selling their children for sex is the only way to get food.

Earlier this month, UN Secretary General António Guterres in releasing the 2016 UN annual review said that there were 145 cases of sexual exploitation and abuse involving troops and civilians across all UN peace missions in 2016 alone. The United Nations Secretary General is talking about his own organisation.
These 145 cases involved 311 victims and even the UN recognises that this is the tip of the iceberg. Many of the victims, by the UN’s own admission, are children.

If a United Nations official in New York raped an American child, there would be hell to pay. Similarly, if a UN official in Geneva raped a Swiss child, there would be an outcry.
So why is it that when a United Nations official or peacekeeper rapes an African child, the organisation fails to ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted?
This a question that the world body has been avoiding for years. Only recently its top officials acknowledged that the UN has a very serious sexual violence problem.
Earlier this year UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres confirmed that UN peacekeepers and civilian staff perpetrated 145 cases of sexual exploitation and abuse involving 311 victims in 2016 alone. That is more than two victims for each case on average.

George Pell's lawyer has described his crimes as "no more than a plain vanilla sexual penetration case", but a prosecutor says they were brazen, forceful and humiliating acts, at a court hearing to consider the cardinal's sentence.
In submissions to Victorian County Court Chief Judge Peter Kidd during a plea hearing, Pell's barrister Robert Richter QC said the offences were "no more than a plain vanilla sexual penetration case where the child is not volunteering or actively participating".

Metropolitan Police probed over child abuse 'cover-up' claims

The police watchdog is investigating alleged corruption in the Metropolitan Police, including claims it covered up child sex offences because MPs and police officers were involved. The Independent 
Police Complaints Commission is investigating 14 referrals spanning four decades.
It said the claims were of "high-level corruption of the most serious nature".
The Met said it had voluntarily referred the allegations, which arose from an investigation launched in 2012.
The investigation, known as Operation Fairbank, is looking into historical child sex abuse claims involving politicians and other public figures.

A recent report by Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has found that police are failing to properly record complaints of sexual assault and other forms of abuse.
The CCC’s June 2019 audit found that Queensland police were facing an increasing number of complaints for “failing to respond to duty” – from 1,381 in 2015, to 1,607 in 2016, and to 1,840 in 2017.
The CCC concluded that, from 2017 to 2018, there had been a 14% increase in these complaints, following a 15% rise from 2015 to 2016.

Sacked senior NSW policewoman Lola Scott was involved in a cover-up of a pedophilia ring involving notorious child sex offenders, a federal parliamentary inquiry heard today.
Former NSW policeman Glen McNamara today presented his submission to a parliamentary standing committee into crime, alleging Ms Scott helped protect convicted pedophiles Robert "Dolly" Dunn and Colin Fisk.
Mr McNamara, a former undercover police officer, said he wore a concealed listening device to record conversations between Dunn and other pedophiles about a drugs ring and their pedophilia activities.
He said Ms Scott, who was sacked late last year by Police Commissioner Ken Moroney, was made aware of an undercover investigation into Dunn in 1989 but ignored evidence which could have convicted him.
"The tape was perfectly clear and audible," Mr McNamara said in his statement.
"Lola Scott took possession of this audio tape. I strenuously advised (her) that Dolly Dunn and Colin Fisk be immediately arrested. My advice was not acted upon."
Mr McNamara said Ms Scott authorised a P16 form for Dunn in 1990 which protected him from prosecution.
"(But) she had an extraordinary knowledge of (Dunn's) criminal activities," Mr McNamara told the inquiry.
The committee resumed today despite Labor MP Daryl Melham moving in December 2002 to have evidence heard behind closed doors.
The move led to accusations by committee chair and Liberal MP Bronwyn Bishop that the ALP was trying to stifle witnesses who may have given damaging evidence against the NSW Labor government in the run-up to next month's election.
Former homicide detective and National Crime Authority investigator Mick McGann, who is due before the inquiry tomorrow, is expected to tell the commission the Wood Royal Commission into police corruption was itself corrupt.
The inquiry continues.

Dale Martin Knoote-Parke's sexual relationship with the girl followed a long friendship, one justice wrote.
A former SA policeman jailed for sex crimes against a teenage girl has had his sentence reduced on appeal, with a Supreme Court justice saying while the offender was "weak and thoughtless" he was not a paedophile.
Dale Martin Knoote-Parke pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl he met at a blue light disco while he was working in an administrative role in the Police Commissioner's Support Branch.
He was sentenced to three years and two months in jail with a non-parole period of 21 months, but he appealed against the sentence arguing it was manifestly excessive.

A common problem with adoption these days is the willingness of our governments to adopt children to make couples, whom in turn are in fact adopting these children to paedophile them out.
There has already been numerous cases where males have adopted children to rape. Unfortunately in our politically correct society,it is deemed discriminative to not allow gay men to adopt children - regardless of the statistics that already one in four girls and one and five boys these days are sexually assaulted before the age of 16.
