Kalgoorlie is in a racial grip with both Vigilante groups and local Authorities, over the recent death of #ElijahDougherty, and the actions of the authorities to charge the Murderer with Manslaughter.
This crisis calls for a National Response from us, because it involves the senseless and callous murder of an Innocent Aboriginal Child. This will also provide us an opportunity to get leaders from across Australia together, to discuss and map a way forward for our communities and people,
The last appearance of the murderer at an open court, the family and supporters where refused entry. At an open meeting of government officials and local residents, aboriginal people were denied entry and doors were locked, with an aboriginal child locked inside without the mother.
How will this community resolve problems within the community, when they choose to segregate the aboriginal community from all involvement?
Not only is this town dealing and reeling with the death of Elijah, they still are facing the revenge attacks from the vigilante groups and are living in fear. We have seen over and over the neglect of government officials and institutions to implement cultural practises and work with us to alleviate some of the stress and trauma in our communities, but yet with the current crisis in Kalgoorlie, the local government in partnership with the state government, sees it in the best interest to fund a golf course upgrade, instead of using the funds to address aboriginal youth disadvantages.
With the crisis in Kalgoorlie, we are now calling on all of our Aboriginal Nations to come together and send representatives to begin negotiations, on building up our Solidarity and Unity, in Affirming and Creating a National Sovereign Alliance, to establish, our own Sovereign Governance. We understand that there will be A Gathering of Nations to be held in Canberra in the coming weeks and would like for this group to convene their meeting in kalgoorlie in support of the blatant racism and injustices, our mobs are confronting.
We have seen and been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and defiance created with the Standing Rock Protest, and are now encouraged to establish the same defiance and resilence towards the continual injustices inacted against our people. We wish to now ask our Aboriginal Nations to become the "Protectors of Children", who we know, are the future protectors and custodians of the oldest living culture in the World
If we sit back and take a hard look at our lifestyle and the manner in which our people are being treated, it doesnt take much to realise, that the ill feeling people have towards us, is unwarranted and uncalled for.
Our lifestyles prior to colonisation was indeed Native, and to revert back to that existence now would be ludicrous, but, we can create a native lifestyle that can incorporate modern values and cultural values and share those stories, that created harmony and peace, amongst our groups of many people. We must first place ourselves into a position of authority as Sovereign Nations and affirm a strong presence in parliament.
The reasons we are still walking the streets in protest, is because the government are always unwilling to committ and direct their decisions of authority towards feasible outcomes. If we can unite our voices in Solidarity and create our own voice of authority, we not only identify and solidify our demands, we also authorise the implementation of better practices in overcoming disadvantage, we create more jobs in positions of authority in the area's of our disadvantage, we control the institutions dealing with our disadvantages and we then control our own environment to create better opportunities and outcomes for all. We first need to Unite and consider having all nations inclusive so believe it is imperative to convene such a forum amidst the crisis in Kalgoorlie, simply because of the outspoken and blatant racism that mob are enduring, from local and state officials and vigilante groups.
If ever there was a time to come together and put all our problems into the one basket, that time is now. We have been dealing with the systemic racism, abuse and failures over the years, but now we are dealing with klu klux klan type mentalities, that are proving to be fatal for our kids. This callous murder has the same blueprint as an African American, being hung up on a tree by a group of slavemasters
In the 2016 Federal Elections, we had 13 Aboriginal people across all parties, vying for a federal seat in parliament. Over the years we have also had aboriginal people elected to local government and have gained much valuable experience and knowledge in the political field. If we can harness this experience and knowledge and utilise it to establish a National Sovereign Government, we can become the voice of reason in this volatile political arena.
Our kids are losing confidence in us and are being confused by the wheels of assimilation and segregation, that are still churning away in our communitues and memories. Western Australia would be a great place to start our discussions as most of the problens we face as aboriginal people, are boldly highlighted.
Western Australia is currently in the grip of a major youth suicide epidemic at the moment and we have children as young as 10 taking their own lives.
Aboriginal Children in WA are also at a high rate of incarceration through the Child Protection System.
Communities are still being threatened with closure and townships such as Kalgoorlie, will be the recipients of many homeless aboriginal people with limited english and with nowhere to live. Imagine the white communities response?
Many communities lands are targetted for mining purposes and have/or will face severe desecration and destruction.
Deaths in Custody and Incarceration statistics continually rising.
Many communities are strong in their culture in WA and english is a third or fourth language, so, if Sovereignty is to be Affirmed, these language groups need to be inclusive, and a City forum will reduce their capacity to become involved.
If there are any person/s interested in assisting in making this a reality, please make contact and lets talk about ways we can initiate a major response from our own mobs to become involved, in setting things straight, once and for all. We are placed on a timeline with the Big R campaign working towards confirming the Governments Authority over us as a People, by amending the illegal constitution to include us.
