Jacob Geanous Thursday 25 Jul 2019 5:54 pm A foster dad begged for custody of a seven-year-old girl he claimed was in danger, then raped her, police say. Eric Schrecengost, 37, was arrested Tuesday in Keizer, Oregon for allegedly raping and sexually abusing the girl.
The Oregon Department of Human Services and Child Welfare placed the girl in Schrecengost’s custody last year after he filed a motion for temporary custody due to immediate danger. He reportedly told authorities that the girl was in danger of being abused, according to a Protection Action Plan filed last September. It is unclear who Schrecengost claimed the girl was at risk of being abused by. Two dead and 17 injured as balcony collapses at nightclub The Marion County Sheriff’s Office began looking into the case after the girl said she had been abused for years, according to the Statesman Journal. It is unclear if the abuse she reported was carried out by Schrecengost or another person.
Schrecengost has been charged with three counts of first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and two counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. He was taken to the Marion County jail and was arraigned on Wednesday. A second child was also removed from his custody before he was arrested, according to family court records. If convicted, Schrecengost faces at least 44 and a half years behind bars.
