Community Involvement in Decision Making
The NSW Government is committed to providing the community with greater opportunities to participate in its decision making processes. To meet this commitment, the Government is encouraging people to nominate for positions on Government Boards and Committees.
The Government believes that the membership of boards and committees should reflect the interests of the community as a whole. To help achieve this the Department of Premier and Cabinet has developed a Register of people interested in being appointed to boards and committees. This Register can be consulted by Ministers,
agencies and stakeholder organisations when vacancies occur.
Taking Advantage of Diversity
This Government embraces the principle of diversity, and seeks to recognise and benefit from the new ideas, different ways of working and decision-making which are afforded by a diverse community. The strategies in place aim to increase representation of groups within the community who have traditionally been under
represented such as women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people of culturally diverse backgrounds, people with a disability and young people.
Joining the Register
If you are interested in being included on the Register please complete this application form. Applications from women, people of culturally diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people and people with a disability are especially encouraged.
Applications are reviewed by Department of Premier and Cabinet before being added to the Register. You may attach any additional information you feel is relevant.
If you are selected for appointment to a particular board or committee you will be consulted and your consent sought.
Having your name on the Register does not oblige you to accept any appointment which is offered.
Inclusion on the Register does not guarantee selection for a position.
For further information about appointments to NSW Government Boards and Committees, there are a number of pamphlets available from the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
