My story about my fight with community services known as docs
Hi my name is Stacey wood dob 24/10/1988, this is my story about my case with DOCS and the fight and trauma I’ve had to go thru and still currently go thru due to being unfairly treated and accused by DOCS.
On 11/3/2010 I went into Taree Docs office alongside me my mother Leanne tubnor and daughter Montana jobson DOB 30/01/2008. The reason for going into the office was I had docs on my case at the time due to them investigating reports being made on myself. The previous day I had rang my mother and asked her for help and asked her to take Montana for short period due to I was stressed as any parent would be due to having docs involved in your life.
Unknown to my knowledge Montana would never return to my care after getting approval that it was ok for my daughter to go stay with my mum for a couple of weeks.
Montana’s previous medical history hadn’t been the best in a matter of 6-12months, her weight, hair loss had all decreased she would come out with strange bruising and she wouldn’t eat.
I recall spending numerous times and occasions at doctors and hospitals. And the whole time I was unaware of what was actually wrong with my little girl.
Her hair loss was really bad, twice in a matter of 6months I recall taking Montana to the hospital in taree for her symptoms being that Montana would sleep a lot, wouldn’t eat and screamed really bad when a light was turned on or she was taken into daylight. I always thought it had something to do with her hair loss. Each time I took her to taree hospital after sitting there for long hrs. at a time Montana would eventually come good.
The 2nd time late 2009 I took her there due to her symptoms. I was sent home saying there was nothing wrong with her, I had rang my mother who was in Sydney - she knew I was stressed and told me to bring Montana down there to seek more medical advice from another doctor.
The next afternoon I had to wait for Montana to be returned from her father’s care at about 5pm after, then I went picked my younger brother up and headed off to Sydney. We didn’t arrive to mums till late. Montana was upset during the night and I was very tired due to travelling and being up all night.
That very next morning we booked Montana into my mum’s doctor at the time, he gave me a referral to take Montana to westmead children’s hospital, again due to lack of sleep the night before, before leaving to head to westmead my mother had told me to go have a little sleep she would wake me and we would take Montana once I had woken. I recall only being asleep for a short period of time before being woken by my mother saying something was wrong with Montana shoulder and to quickly take her back over to the doctor again, as I did he told me to get it looked at while at westmead hospital.
Due to my concerns for Montana’s health at the time I had done research of my own and came up with alopecia which is a hair loss condition.
The visit to westmead was very long - I took my mum and sister along with me; we sat in the waiting room for hrs. It was late by the time we got taken in for her to be seen by a doctor, he had a look at her and said he wanted to put a drip in her but to do that the wanted to give her a local antiseptic. We had agreed to have all that done.
Hours later we weren’t getting anywhere, doctors and nurses were all sitting around drinking coffee and laughing it was getting really late Montana was very unsettled by his stage I was very tired and mum had been standing for too long which is something she can’t do due to pain she suffers.
We finally spoke with a doctor and told him we would just go home and come back in the morning due to nothing being done that night regarding Montana.
The next day I did take her back on my own and they had arranged for her to see the pediatrician Kathy Thacker. I explained what had been happening with Montana’s health and also telling her about the arm and about my own research. She had agreed with me that it sounded like alopecia and took a piece of hair and scrapping of the scalp for testing for alopecia. She also arranged for an x-ray be done for the arm.
I recall Montana had two lots of x-rays that day. It came back that she had a fracture to the upper right arm, which they made her a sling for and booked an appointment for bone doctor the following couple of days after at the same hospital, and said she would catch up with me and Montana back in taree on her next visit for the results of hair and check up on arm.
A few days after I took Montana back for her appointment with the bone doctor - he said all was well it was nothing serious and that it would heal quickly due to kids bones heal fast. That day we headed back home to taree. I Still couldn’t work out how or what she had done to her arm.
I asked my partner at the time Darren about her arm and the only thing he could think of was she had tried to climb a kitchen stool and failed and fell a few days before going to Sydney but we hadn’t seen any signs of pain from her arm after falling, so it didn’t make sense. I’m still unaware as to how she has hurt her arm at that time to cause a fracture.
After this visit to the Westmead Hospital (coming across Montana’s breaks), my life started to fall apart.
After numerous checkups with Kathy Thacker and her hair and scalp results coming back saying no to alopecia, Montana’s health decreased even more. She wasn’t her normal self. She slept a lot, wouldn’t touch food unless it was pasta, yoghurt or junk food even then she ate very little I was concerned.
I had had numerous phone calls with my mum telling her my concerns she told me Montana had to eat so I made up some running warm Weetabix and spoon feed it to her whilst jiggling her cheek to get her to swallow. The next morning she woke with a lite bruise on her cheek, that day I had an app with Kathy Thacker, and I took Montana’s grandmother Jenny Jobson with me and told her what had been happening - and she had done a full check on Montana and said I had nothing to worry about due to Montana’s weight was average for her age and that she would eat when she was ready.
She informed me she would have to notify docs that she had seen a bruise on Montana and that I had nothing to worry about as i hadn’t ever had any issues with docs before. So I didn’t stress so much.
2 days later I had received a phone call from taree doc’s office asking that I bring Montana into their office along with me my current partner at the time Darren.
They asked me a lot of questions and asked about Montana’s broken arm. After I was escorted to taree hospital with Montana on my lap in a doc’s car - I didn’t feel it was right but they said it was fine anything, could have happened but they didn’t care.
Montana was taken into be checked over by Kathy Thacker. I had no real concerns due to she had only seen Montana 48hrs beforehand. Kathy then found ulcers in the back of Montana’s mouth and sent Montana for x-rays and they came back all clear (months later I get told they had actually found a healed fracture to the left arm).
Docs had no real concerns they told me but it was safety precautions to send Montana to stay somewhere else for the night it was a normal procedure, which i was fine with due to she was meant to go for her weekend at her dads/grandparents’ house that weekend anyway. So they rang them and told them what was happening and that I would drop Montana there after hospital had discharged her and that Kathy had recommended they give Montana neurofen for the ulcers in her mouth.
They (docs) told me I was able to collect Montana from her grandparents on Monday after docs had given the all clear that there was no major concerns for Montana’s safety while in my care. And that I was allowed to visit Montana whilst in her father’s care.
I did visit Montana on the Saturday Avro and asked if they had given her the medication for her ulcers - they said they hadn’t due to they were unaware that they had too. I informed them she needed it.
The Monday came, I was given the all clear to collect Montana and return to my care with no concerns.
A few weeks later I found out docs were on my case again investigating me again, due to a lot of reports being made; and then this is when my life turned upside down. They picked at everything any anything to ruin my life. After numerous interviews with case worker, splitting up with my partner, having a car accident, and being very stressed bout docs - I called my mum for help.
I had people turn against me. I had them all talk and then go to docs with the same stories to make me out to be a bad mother.
I got text messages from old friends saying I just went to docs and made sure you’ll never get ya daughter back from docs.
I fought with docs to tell them nothing but the truth but they wouldn’t have a bar of it.
They took everything I said and wrote it whatever way they wanted to make there affidavit to make me look bad in court.
I found out everyone’s stories matched up due to the one person I asked for help was ringing them telling them what to say and to contact docs. This person was my mother whom has full custody of Montana now.
I went to court and lost my custody for 18yrs. They made her ward of the state and I get access every 6 weeks and one phone call week.
She resides with my mum where no love or affection is shown; everything I give her gets thrown out. If she cries for her missing her dad or mum she gets put on the naughty chair so my mum don’t have the heart to hold her n love her. I was shown that same discipline when I was I kid and that’s why I find it hard to trust people these days.
To make the case better she has just been diagnosed with aplocia by a doctor in Sydney - which docs are aware of if you look up that medical condition on Google it tells you that alopecia is known for hair loss, brittle bones and unexplained bruising. Which are all the things I’ve been accused of and had her removed from my care?
I feel Kathy Thacker was telling me one thing and telling docs a different thing.
I’ve tried everything in my will power to have a close relationship with my daughter.
I moved to Sydney twice - the first time I resided with Montana in my mother’s house and docs didn’t have any issues.
The 2nd time I reside with my sister - both times I moved out - my family disowned me.
I have reports to say there is nothing wrong with me or my partner when it comes to care for Montana from a doctor mike Richardson. Whom I’ve seen twice over 2 yrs.
Also attended parenting courses saying I passed.
I don’t see why I can’t have my daughter back in my care full time. I have been told by docs if I was take it back to court it would take a min of 2 yrs. to get any answers from a court and that they may not grant me custody - which I think is wrong.
I have told docs if I don’t get Montana returned to my care I would take this to media as there are kids out there now worse off and some whom die yet they don’t have the time for it yet they take a child away from its loving caring mother.
I have suffered 3 yrs. already and I don’t think I shouldn’t have to suffer another 2 let alone 18 yrs.
Please help me I have a lot more support now and also have a lot more support witnesses to fight docs in media then what I use to have as they see Montana should never have been taken from me.
Thankyou for reading and hope you may be able to help
